Flags of Our Fathers
"Flags of Our Fathers" is a human drama of friendship and love, sacrifice and manipulation, set against the violent conflict of the battle of Iwo Jima.
Actually, “Flags of our fathers” is not a standard war movie, but a pure anti-war film.
Old cowboy (Clint Eastwood) shredded the hypocrisy of the political world with a black-and-white thinking mercilessly.
The movie expounds the nature of the war and the reason why human needs peace though an old photo after the Iwo Jima campaign.
The movie doesn’t criticize nor glorify the war. It just shows the soldiers’ experience, with which to analyze the real taste of gaining the highest honor of glory.
In the use of the honor, the state propaganda and blind people makes humanity become humble, honor become timid. The side of ridiculous politics and the sham of the co-existence of people’s ignorance and fragile make the photo turn into a kind of gigantic politics effect.
The United States has not experienced any overseas wars. The first kind of "wait-and-see" attitude virtually makes the United States hold more attention of life.
Iwo Jima battle, a tiny place filled with more than 7,000 U.S. troops and 25,000 Japanese lives. The U.S. government had pressure from this horrible price, so that the photograph became supreme tool for boosting morale, let domestic people find comfort and inspire. |
