Dharma Day: celebrates the Buddha's first teaching, according to the Theravadin tradition. The Buddha taught the group of five monks with whom he had practiced in the forest for many years. Upon hearing this teaching, one of the monks - Ven. Kondanna - gained his first glimpse of Nirvana, thus giving birth to the Noble Sangha.
佛法日。根据南传佛教上座部传统，纪念佛陀初转法轮的日子。佛陀教授在森林中行持多年的五比丘。在听闻了他的教法后，其中一名憍陈如尊者，最先证到涅槃，如是产生了尊贵的僧伽。

Magha Puja
Sangha Day in Theravada tradition. This commemorates the spontaneous assembly of 1,250 arhats in the Buddha's presence. One thousand of the gathered monks had previously achieved Awakening upon hearing the Buddha's delivery of the Fire Sermon; the remaining 250 were followers of the elder monks Ven. Moggallana and Ven. Sariputta. To mark this auspicious gathering, the Buddha delivered the Ovada-Patimokkha Gatha, or Patimokkha Exhortation - a summary of the main points of the Dharma - which the Buddha gave to the assembly before sending them out to proclaim the doctrine.
南传上座部传统的僧伽日。纪念佛在世时的1250名阿罗汉的自发集会。其中一千名集会的僧人在听受佛陀初转法轮后先获证悟；余250名跟随长老目犍连和舍利弗尊者。为了纪念这次吉祥的法会，在送僧众外出弘法前佛陀讲述了《别解脱教诫》(意指“教诫总纲”)，这一部佛法的概要。

如来教授如是所行为。”
应受八关斋戒：不杀生，不偷盗，不淫，不妄语，不饮酒/吸食麻醉品，不坐高广大床，不歌舞香花蔓涂身，及过午不食。
